OUR PROGRAMS
Offering hope, connection and support for breast cancer survivors.
Survival Fitness is a wellness initiative to offer support for breast cancer survivors. This program not only supports survivors with peer-to-peer interaction but also strengthens their bodies from the physical toll that chemotherapy and other cancer treatments take on the body.
Hope Huddles are a gentle, welcoming circle for breast cancer survivors to come together and simply be… to share, reflect, or just sit in the company of others who understand. There’s no pressure to talk or participate. This is a space for listening, healing, and being seen. Like sitting with trusted friends, we honor every kind of life transition, loss (big or small), and victory with compassion and care.
Cancer patients and survivors are prescribed a ‘healthy diet’ as part of their care plan and many struggle with implementation. Cooking classes empower cancer patients and survivors by teaching basic culinary skills, dispelling nutrition myths, and breaking down barriers to working with novel ingredients. The shared experience of creating a healthy meal with other survivors serves as a support group that can nourish both the body and the soul.
Finding Joy is a supportive gathering created exclusively for women living with a Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) diagnosis. Women share a meal together while connecting with others who truly understand—openly talking about both the challenges and the moments of joy that come with their journey. Finding Joy offers nourishment for both body and spirit, reminding each woman that she is not walking this path alone.
B the Light offers group health coaching series. These series offer survivors a safe and supportive space to come together and discuss aspects of their well-being. Each session is lead by a certified hearth coach and typically focuses on education, encouragement and empowerment to help survivors navigate the physical, emotional and psychological challenges associated with their cancer journey.
B the Light offers mini-retreats to connect survivors with each other and with resources for mindfulness and healing. This experience has offered so much in the way of support and has created a safe place for this beautiful group of survivors to feel honored and lifted up.
Hope Handbags are bags of goodies gifted to local survivors around the holiday season. The concept was started during the pandemic as a way to still connect with and serve survivors while we couldn't be together.
Hope Handbags typically included: A $250 grocery and gas gift card, $100 towards personal wellness, $150 toward local co-op’s, Beauty Counter Clean Cosmetic gift set, support tools and information from local area community organizations, and B the Light goodies.
All of the items not only offer the chance for a survivor to practice self-care, and reduce the feeling of financial strain, but it also stays within our community to benefit area businesses. All funds to facilitate this project are directly from donations made to B the Light.
B the Light is a sponsor of "Hope Getaways." This program was created as a way to help survivors by sending them on a healing journey, during or following their treatment for breast cancer. Hope Getaways provide survivors and their family an opportunity to reset, rejuvenate, and take a break from the word cancer. The application period for this program is offered once per year.
