The Power of Pink: May Edition
Early Bird tickets are on sale NOW!
Our annual Illuminate Hope Gala, which will be held on October 25th at the Royal Oak Event Center in New Ulm, is our flagship fundraiser, drawing hundreds of attendees and garnering support from businesses and individuals alike. With each successful event, we are reminded of our work’s impact and the importance of our mission. As the prevalence of breast cancer continues to rise, so too does the demand for our services. We served 183 survivors in 2023 and in Q1 alone, for 2024, we had 125 survivors participate in our programs.
We are more committed than ever to continue expanding our reach to neighboring communities, ensuring that no survivor faces their journey alone. Let’s make a difference together.

Programs and Events
Shining Light
B the Light was able to gift TWO Shining Light donations in April.
While navigating a cancer journey, B the Light offers financial assistance to survivors residing in Minnesota. An eligible survivor recipient can receive a one-time donation of $500 to help with financial hardship during their breast cancer journey.
Hope Huddles
Thank you to Plaza Garibaldi (New Ulm) for hosting our May Hope Huddles.
Hope Huddles provide a simple yet meaningful way for survivors to connect over a meal. This event is offered monthly in both New Ulm and Mankato to survivors at any stage in their journey. All Hope Huddles are informal and fun
Cooking Beyond Cancer: A Flavorful Lifestyle
This month survivors prepared three delicious meals at Cooking Beyond Cancer. The menu consisted of Beef & Broccoli, Chicken Enchilada Skillet, and Unstuffed Peppers. Meals are prepped with fresh meats and vegetables, these can easily be made into plant-based meals as well. We welcomed 13 survivors and Cultivate Mankato graciously hosted our group again. We are excited to have Tina with Inspire Health and Wellness hosting us in June to walk the gardens on her property and prep ‘Country Cooking’ style meals. “This is fun! I get interested in cooking. I feel joy and relax. The food is so good and I don’t worry about what I am eating.” - B the Light Participant
Cooking Beyond Cancer classes empower breast cancer patients and survivors by focusing on the importance of nourishing the body with whole foods. CBC makes the culinary experience easy and enjoyable.
We are thrilled to have had 18 Survivors participate in our programs in May, welcoming 1 ‘New to B the Light.’ Creating these connections is exactly what we are here for!
Our total programming costs for May 2024:$1,304.
