Cooking Beyond Cancer: A 5-Week Culinary Healing Experience
Location: Lola-An American Bistro -16 N Minnesota St, New Ulm, MN 56073
Cooking Beyond Cancer is a 5-week cooking experience for breast cancer survivors that centers on connection, shared experience, and healing through food.
Led by Chef Aron Bode of Lola Restaurant in New Ulm, survivors cook a meal together each week, then gather to eat family-style, creating space for conversation, understanding, and community with others who truly “get it.”
Participants also take home one chef-prepared meal each week, extending nourishment and support beyond the class and into daily life.
This 5-week series will be every Monday in March from March 2nd through March 30th.
Cancer patients and survivors are prescribed a ‘healthy diet’ as part of their care plan and many struggle with implementation. Cooking classes empower cancer patients and survivors by teaching basic culinary skills, dispelling nutrition myths, and breaking down barriers to working with novel ingredients. The shared experience of creating a healthy meal with other survivors serves as a support group that can nourish both the body and the soul.
