Despite a rainy summer day, the Walk a Mile In Their Shoes grand finale was a success. With 23 local corporate sponsors, and approximately 150 participants, we were able to raise over $23,000 in eight days. We are very grateful for the outpouring of support!
All donations will stay in the community and will be focused on providing ways for breast cancer survivors to connect. B The Light has been (removed focused on) providing experiences like ReLight Retreats, Survival Fitness Programs.
“We always set our goals high because we want to be able to support as many breast cancer survivors as possible, and we never cease to be amazed at the outpouring of support from our community.”, Commented Amber Melby, breast cancer survivor, founder and president of B the Light. “We are a small but mighty team, and we work every day to ensure that survivors have the support they should have in our rural community.”, Amber reflected.
We want to give a huge than you to our sponsors for this event. We couldn't do this without you! Thank you to everyone who sponsored, donated and participated. 💗
B the Light is a 501(c)3, started in 2016 by Amber Melby of New Ulm MN. As a breast cancer survivor herself, Amber founded this organization stemming from her journey and in honor of Brenda Plinke, or Aunt “B” as she was known to family and friends. Aunt B battled metastatic breast cancer for 18 years before she passed away in 2018 at the age of 58. She lived
by the motto “Never Give Up Hope” and inspired all who knew her. B the Light seeks to honor Aunt B’s legacy by connecting survivors during or after treatment. Their motto is “Offering HOPE to breast cancer survivors, one connection at a time.”
